The Japanese Maple, scientifically known as Acer palmatum, is native to Japan, China, and Korea. Its name comes from the hand-shaped leaves that feature five pointed lobes, as "palma" in Latin refers to the palm of your hand. This species is very popular and easy to care for, but it does require protection from severe frost and intense sunlight.  Their leaves change colour three times; in Spring, Summer and Autumn.
